Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the University Psychological Counseling Unit, in cooperation with the Volunteer Work Unit at the University of Baghdad, College of Pharmacy, organized a cultural and educational festival titled “Awareness and Guidance Toward a Safer Educational and Psychological Environment” as part of the Counseling Week activities. The festival included a variety of scientific posters, educational brochures, and artistic works presented by the college students under the supervision of their instructors.

The event aimed to enhance students’ awareness of the importance of mental health and to create a supportive and safe academic environment that contributes to improving the quality of academic and student life.

The event featured several interactive stations and activities, including a blank whiteboard where students expressed their thoughts and feelings about their academic environment and a board with blank faces where participants were invited to draw facial expressions reflecting their emotions during their studies at the college. It also featured a self-expression box where students placed notes listing negative behaviors they wished to eliminate alongside positive traits they hoped to strengthen. In addition, awareness posters highlighted negative phenomena such as electronic addiction and smoking, while mental health posters and panels provided guidance on coping with stress caused by examinations and academic demands. Furthermore, a handicrafts corner displayed handmade products made of candles and aromatic oils, reflecting a creative aspect that supports students’ mental well-being.

The Dean of the College of Pharmacy took part alongside the students in the drawing and expression activities, praising their engagement and reaffirming his support for such initiatives that promote a healthy educational environment. He also commended the efforts of participating students from all academic stages and the meaningful work they presented, reflecting their awareness and dedication to improving their university community.

The event concluded by emphasizing the importance of continuing to promote psychological and behavioral awareness among students, supporting initiatives that contribute to creating a safe and motivating academic environment, and encouraging students to adopt positive behaviors that enhance their well-being.
